How to Get Stanley Cups on Sale

It’s more than a cup. It’s an accessory, a hydration helper, a phenomenon, a whole vibe if you will. Something you can’t leave home without. Of course we’re talking about the Stanley Quencher Tumbler. Largely known for its ability to keep your iced beverages cold for up to a whopping 48 hours, the dishwasher-safe Quencher can even fit in most cup holders, making it easy to stay hydrated on the go which is yet another huge selling point.

With the Quencher Tumbler becoming the brand’s top selling product in 2020, Stanley knows it has earned a seat at the table. Many retailers are finding it hard to even keep the Quencher Tumbler in stock these days. Which begs the question, do you stand a chance at scoring any savings on Stanley items?

Follow along for a few tips and tricks to finding Stanley on sale and eeking out the most savings possible.

You might be surprised to find out that your grandparents and maybe even their parents were sporting Stanley thermoses and lunchboxes way before the days of TikTok. Stanley has worked tirelessly for the past 110 years bringing its well-designed drinkware and food storage products to a loyal and mostly blue-collar fanbase. But a shift began in 2016 with the introduction of the Quencher tumbler. Shortly after, Stanley brought on a new president who understands the importance of collaboration and social media influence. Combine that with a pastel color-driven marketing strategy catering to a mostly untapped female market and the company is on track to double its sales revenue for the fourth straight year.

Social media has been instrumental in getting the brand on our radar. Limited-edition colors and special “drops” with retailers like Starbucks and Target, have all but changed the brands trajectory. Sure, consumers could be purchasing on the merit of durability, sustainability and function. But it’s more likely there’s a psychological component behind the popularity and Stanley has done a fantastic job of playing on precisely those emotions and creating a product we simply cannot be without.

Do Stanley Cups Ever Go on Sale?

We’ve seen Stanley and other retailers that stock the brand (Amazon, Lowe’s and Ace Hardware to name a few) offer minimal markdowns on some products, but almost never the 40-oz. Quencher. As mentioned, Stanley knows its worth, leaving the drinkware manufacturer comfortable charging a premium and not necessarily needing to offer many discounts to keep inventory literally flying off the shelves. The Quenccher, however, is not the only thing Stanley sells — it has thermoses, tumblers and other drinkware that it does discount.

Here at RetailMeNot, we’ll do our best to keep you apprised of any upcoming sales and new color releases. In the meantime, use some of the following tips to save while growing your Stanley collection.

How to Get Discounts and Find Stanley on Sale

1. Shop Stanley Tumblers on Sale at Target

As recently as Dec. 7, 2023, Target offered a savings of $15 off of a $75 home purchase, in which Stanley tumblers WERE included. Target frequently runs similar “category” promotions. If an item is included in a promotion, the offer will be highlighted within the product description at Target.com or in the app. Be sure to check your Target Circle offers for individualized offers as well and use your Target RedCard to save an additional 5% every day.

2. Purchase Directly From Stanley

Stanley does offer a sale section where you could snag discounts during rare special promotions or seasonal sales throughout the year. For example, during a recent winter sale we saw savings up to 60% off. Again, you’re not likely to find the famous 40-oz. Quencher in this section, but that could change one day.

When it comes to purchasing directly from Stanley, know this: It often restricts the Quencher from its promo codes and coupons. For example, one of our editors was excited to receive an emailed promo code from Stanley, but the fine print said “All Quenchers are ineligible.”

3. Get on Stanley’s Email List

Stay in the know on sales events, new products and special announcements by subscribing to the Stanley newsletter via email. It’s easy to sign up and once you do, you’ll receive a welcome email with a code to receive 10% off your first order. This promo code will be valid for one-time use only.

4. Special Savings for Verified Essential Workers and Students

Yet another way to save by purchasing directly from Stanley is by taking advantage of a 20% discount provided to medical providers, hospital employees, nurses, active military, first responders, students and teachers. You’ll need to verify your employment status with ID.me to be eligible for this exclusive discount.

5. Utilize Store Loyalty Programs to Bring Down the Price of a Stanley Product

By knowing where to purchase Stanley products and participating in those retailers’ loyalty programs, it’s easy to earn rewards that you can use toward Stanley purchases. Many retailers also offer free shipping as a perk to members which counts as additional savings too. Here are a few to check out:

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods: Become a Scorecard rewards member to earn one point for every dollar spent. It’s free to join and once you earn 300 points, you’ll receive a $10 reward. Feel free to turn around and use that reward to purchase even more Stanley.
  • Ace Hardware: Join Ace Rewards for free and earn 10 points for every dollar spent. Earn 2,500 points to be eligible for a $5 reward.
  • REI: The Co-op membership at REI does require a one-time membership fee of $30. But that membership is good for life, no renewals or extra fees ever. Once you’re in, you’ll receive 10% back annually on eligible purchases.

6. Earn Cash Back

Earning cash back at retailers that sell Stanley definitely counts as a discount. It’s super easy to shop current cash back offers from RetailMeNot. Simply activate the cash back offer then head directly to the store from RetailMeNot to make your purchase. You’ll automatically earn cash back on the amount you spend starting at 1% and sometimes up to 20% depending on the deal. With just a few clicks, you’ll be saving in no time.
