Get a Tattoo of Your Pet, Get a Prize From PetSmart

People love their pets. PetSmart loves pets, too. Now, PetSmart is on a mission to help pet parents show their unwavering loyalty to their companions by replacing a tattoo they regret with one of their pets.

According to a PetSmart survey, 49% of pet parents have or know someone who has a tattoo they regret. The majority of people with regrets wouldn’t regret a tattoo of their pet, which is why PetSmart is turning regrets into pets via the ultimate form of loyalty — tattoos.

Maybe you got a tattoo in a late-night spur-of-the-moment decision that you instantly regretted the next day. Or maybe it was an outward reflection of your then-current relationship, but the tattoo has lasted way longer. Whatever the reason and whatever the tattoo, PetSmart wants to help.

“Tattoos are the ultimate form of loyalty, but we know that sometimes the thing you thought you’d want to commemorate forever turns out to be…not so forever. So, we’re turning regrets into pets because we know you’ll never regret a reminder of your pets’ unconditional love,” says Bradley Breuer, vice president of loyalty and CRM at PetSmart.

Coinciding with the launch of the new, upgraded PetSmart Treats Rewards loyalty program, from now through April 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET, pet parents who want to show loyalty to their pets can enter the Tattoo Redo contest and replace a tattoo they regret with one of their pet. Winners of the tattoo cover-up contest will get a free consultation with the Alium Tattoo Studio in Los Angeles, plus the cost of travel, accommodations, and a session with one of Alium’s tattoo artists.

If you’re a pet parent who’s already made the ultimate commitment and has a tattoo of your pet, you can also enter for an upgrade to VIPP status (Very Important Pet Parent), the top tier in the new PetSmart Treats Rewards program.

Here’s how to enter:

1. Share a photo and the story behind a tattoo you regret, plus the pet inspiring your cover-up tattoo, at PetSmartTattooRedo.com.

2. If you already have a tattoo of your pet, upload the photo at PetSmartTattooRedo.com. The first 20,000 people who enter will be awarded VIPP status.

Note: I already have a tattoo of my dog’s paw prints, so I entered and was notified instantly to check my membership via the PetSmart app by the end of May.

3. Everyone can download the PetSmart app for a tattoo-themed photo frame to use and celebrate their love and loyalty to their pets.

PetSmart’s upgraded, free-to-join Treats Rewards program makes life with pets even more rewarding, giving pet parents more rewards than ever before.
